Six beery-cool places to fuel your craft beer obsession in Bendigo

Worried your hankering for all things crafty may be limited pre and post-Bendigo Craft Beer and Cider Festival?

Fear not. We have put together six very cool things keep you going.

The Dispensary

With more than 100 independent beers available, and an intimate knowledge of each one that swings between compulsion and a possible personality disorder, the team at ‘The D’ are affable hosts with just enough beer-geek spark to ensure you feel right at home without being creepy.
If you’re just discovering your love for craft beer, the team may guide you to a clean, crisp lager from Garage Project,or for those who have sampled almost everything under the sun, you will appreciate the advanced stock such as Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout from Michigan, USA, brewed in barrels aged in maple syrup. And yes, we have tried it and can confirm it really is that good.

The Hop Supply Co

Described by one Google reviewer as ‘the(hop) shop of my dreams’ , The Hop Supply Co is not you normal bottle shop, it’s a beverage obsessive’s ultimate retail space.
Whilst dedicated to a serious craft beer offering, they do like to mix it up a little with some serious wines and spirits also available. Stock up the car or stop in for one of their regular free tasting sessions.

There’s a craft beer revolution evolving in Heathcote, just 45 minutes up the road from Bendigo, at 1.5 hours from Melbourne.
Famous for the exceptional wines of the region, the increasing quality of the craft beer production has ensured Bendigo locals are quick to point out that the region is actually part of the Bendigo local government area (yes we love to claim good things).
If you’re heading to or from Melbourne to Bendigo, stop and check out the three breweries, Cornella, Palling Bros and Tooborac. Meet the brewers at each venue, take a tour and enjoy tastings with the person who actually made the stuff.
    • Cornella: Part microbrewery / part of a winery, cellar door and taproom.  Chill out and try what’s currently on offer, they’ve brewed everything from a Chicken Twist(ie) Flight beer to a berliner Rosa Shiraz Sour beer.
    • Palling Bros: The new kids on the block also has entertainment, from open mic poetry, trivia nights, and live music.
    • Tooborac: The famous brewery extending from the hotel, has been attracting travelers for years to pop in for one, or for many at events such as OkTOOBerfest, this year to be held October 26.

Handle Bar

Often referred to as a hidden gem in Bendigo, wander inside Get Naked Espresso Bar in Mitchell Street, follow the path outside and Handle Bar will await you. This electic courtyard space provides the ultimate chill spot for casual sessions every Thursday – Sunday. Craft beer lovers will be delighted by the variety of independent brewers and fridge loaded with a huge variety of craft beers. BYO food or get something delivered for the ultimate Handle Bar experience.

Flight Bar Bendigo

Craft beer champions Justin McPhail and Nick Horgan are the masterminds behind one of Bendigo’s favorite craft beer hot spots, Flight Bar.

Heaven for craft beer and fried chicken aficionados, we guarantee you’ll find something new to try from their extensive selection. The guys have nailed the perfect combination of beer and chicken with their fried chicken goodness developing a loyal cult following in Bendigo.
